Barre Technique on Classical Guitar + free PDF of “3 Exercises for Barre Technique”

Classical guitar lesson – Barre Technique This lesson demonstrates the common problems when using barre chords. I hope it helps those may be struggling with the technique. You can get a PDF of “3 Exercises for Barre Technique” here – classicalguitarlessons.blogspot.com More videos will be added soon. Please subscribe to my channel to be notified of new videos. Main points to remember when executing barres – 1. keep finger straight and right before the fretwire 2. make sure finger is not “curled” in the middle – this causes buzzing on the inner strings 3. keep elbow behind the barre and use the weight of the arm to press (not just the thumb and fingers) Best Wishes, Kevin Gallagher website – www.guitar69.com writings – http

@mpc48B Wish I had long, bony fingers. My short stubby fingers are a much bigger handicap.

@hyperboreal HA! I was thinking exactly the same thing. My index finger just won’t bend like that.
November 4th, 2011 at 7:58 pm
I need a concave index finger like yours. How can you bend it backwards like that???
Must admit I’ve always done the arm-to-the-side thing. Time to start anew with the “way to the arm” mode. Thanks for the lesson!

@PilotGery1 when this used to happen to me too, it was because I’d press the E with the soft very base of the index. I placed my finger so that the tip of it was just above the 6th string, so that there was some space of the finger left for the high E too (lol), and it worked. Or you can sliiiightly turn your index so that you can use some of the hard, right side of it on the strings too (and not just the under-side). This normally is enough for better pressure on all strings. Just experiment ;P

THANK you ! I had thought that my long, bony fingers, lacking in fat between the joints was a physical handicap. Thanks to you, I, now, know better. Your teaching communication is very clear. God bless you …

What about the thump and its position? Should it have to be right behind of the index finger?
