My gold standard for reverb is a 1960′s blackface fender reverb amp. I own a ’66 Vibrolux Reverb, a ’65 Pro Reverb and early ’68 Super Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Princeton Reverb.(I also own a bunch of vintage Ampeg reverb amps also).
I recently bought a Hiwatt Custom 100 amp and needed a little bit of Reverb. So I needed a pedal to provide some reverb. I went to youtube and listened to both the Line 6 Verbzilla and the Dr. Scientist Reverberator. I bought both after auditioning them on youtube. After listening to them in person I can tell you that the Verzilla is all that you will ever need . It does a very good job, especially in the ’63 setting, of emulating an analog Fender spring type reverb. It sounds very realistic and gives that warm analog sound of a spring reverb; it does not sound digital or harsh at all. How they do this in such a small and relatively inexpensive pedal is remarkable. Just this one setting is worth the price of the pedal.
It also gives you amazing control of the reverb effect with Tone, Mix, Decay, and Time controls, and a Trails on/off switch .You can use these controls to give you anything from a very subtle effect to a very wet surfing reverb effect.
That’s just one setting!! But then it gives you so much more: Spring, Plate, Room, Hall, Chamber, Ducking, Octo, Cave, Tile, and Echo. I didn’t really need all these other Reverbs so I haven’t had too much time to use them . I have tried them and they all sound great. I can’t believe they are from so inexpensive a pedal.
The Dr. Scientist pedal sounds great also but I can’t say that it’s better than the Verzilla.
If you need some Reverb , the Verbzilla delivers.

I bought this pedal on recommendation from others who have it set up to provide shimmer effect. For this (on the Octo setting), it performs very well, and is terribly easy to setup. Most say it is better than the shimmer that comes from a Digitech IPS33 unit. I havent used the IPS33 but the shimmer effect on the Verbzilla is great.
And of course there are mnay other standard reverb effects too which are quite clean in terms of sound quality. The pedal itself is well-built with sturdy casing and what appears to be a pedal that could take some abuse! Very happy with the Verbzilla!

Some pedals don’t have to be Botique to do great job, and the Verbzilla is one of them. Very articululte, expressive, and the Octoverb setting is haunting! You can also interchange the modules with other Line 6 pedals which makes this a very flexible tool. No…it’s not a Lexicon, but it will fool the listener in a live or studio setting, with it’s lush pre-sets (11 of them), and you can individually adjust the Mix, Decay, Time and Tone, to really tweak your sound. And the BEST part of this pedal is the Trails switch; when you go from a soaring verb soaked lead, and switch back to a rhythm part, the verb from the lead line decays natrually, even while your playing a complete different guitar part. Great value, pro sounds and flexibility…all you can ask for in a pedal! Line 6 Verbzilla

having purchased an amp head with no reverb i had reverb withdrawl, i had reverb on all my amps since my Sears Silvertone back in the day. after looking at numerous stomp box reverbs the Verbzilla offered more range than others (different reverbs and echo) and reviews were favorable. very nice stomp box reverb with loads of settings and 2 that bring me back to the day of my Silvertone amp. lots of bang for the buck!

I wanted to get a good Surf sound most of all, but I also needed something that had flexibility, and most importantly good sound.
The Verbzilla delivers. This thing just sounds good, it can go from dark and moody, to bright. It can go really deep in to reverb country, and yet when it does, the signal does not get all muddy.
I had a Marshall Reflector. It’s reverb was very weak, and would get muddy. Generally just zapped the quality or dynamics of the original signal.
Line 6 has a good pedal here. If you are looking for that old Fender Spring Reverb sound this one comes pretty close. Plus, there is a generous handful of other usable sounds that do sound very nice as well. Cave might be my favorite.
Nice adjustably with the 4 parameter dials too.
Overall, I’m totally pleased, and the fact that it’s reasonably priced is just icing on the cake.
